Cornishman Ben Barker will be exchanging a steering wheel for a set of handlebars as he becomes the latest rider to be announced for the limited crowd-attended British Final at Ipswich on Saturday 26th September.

Barker who has spent much of the year as a lorry driver made his customary appearance in March's Ben Fund Bonanza meeting and scored seven points in his only speedway engagement of 2020. He heads for Ipswich, a track he consistently performed well at when a member of Ipswich Witches in 2016, and claims "I am really looking forward to being able to get back on my bike after such a long time off it. I have been pretty much flat out with work since March, I've been lucky in that aspect as work hasn't relented but I have really missed doing my hobby which is riding my speedway bike. I will be heading there looking to pick up the title. The fact that I haven't been riding at all doesn't faze me, after all it is just riding a bike and you never forget how to do that do you?!.
"I'm pleased it is at Ipswich as that is a track I like to ride. I had a good year when I rode for them and I shall be going there looking to finish on the top of that rostrum. It's bin it or win it as far as I'm concerned."

An absentee from the last two British Finals, Barker finished fourth in 2017 missing out on a rostrum place when headed in the final by his planned 2020 team-mate Rory Schlein who took the bronze medal on that occasion.

Schlein was previously announced as a confirmed starter and the declared line-up todate now includes Danny King, Richard Lawson, Schlein, Lewis Kerr, Dan Bewley and Barker.
