The “Four By Two” SGB Championship play-off semi-final featuring the fourth placed and Fours winner Somerset against the second-placed and Pairs winners Glasgow, was further frustrated on Friday night when a waterlogged track left the Glasgow race strip unsuitable for racing, the meeting being called off just about an hour before the scheduled start.

Both clubs have now suffered a postponement of their home leg and they now seek to complete the tie in the space of 24 hours next week with Glasgow rescheduling their home fixture to Tuesday 1st October (7.30pm), Somerset having already booked in Wednesday 2nd for their staging.

Promoter Debbie Hancock said of the latest postponement "It is always very frustrating for promotions, riders and supporters alike to have to call any meeting off but of course it feels so much worse when there has been considerable travelling involved. We can only hope that the weather behaves itself next week and we can get a result.”

Friday also saw the postponement of the first leg of the other semi-final tie between Redcar and Leicester and that has been put back to next Friday.
